HOW MY GUITAR COULD GENTLY WEEP

…………how to play guitar?

PONYXPRESS JUNE 2026

Maybe some good oldies of you remember the old Beatles-white 1968 album with the song „while my guitar geently weeps“?

This is another PONYXPRESS of RADIO JAVALI notcasted from rural Portugal, my name is still Michael, ola, hello, you’re very welcome to listen to a lot of different ways to play guitar.

A huge thank you for all the birthday wishes!

71, wow… 7+1=8, infinity has always fascinated me, but I live in terms of duration, yes, that’s how it is!

Let me say something with age, haha: the most important thing in life is failure. Really: failing spectacularly: physically, emotionally, mentally, that’s it… oh no, please leave me alone with all that YouTube-Instagram-Facebook-healing crap: learning from mistakes! The biggest load of rubbish ever!

We don’t live to learn, we live to live. Actually, life lives itself.

Fernando Pessoa knew this 100 years ago:

“We will never realize ourselves! We are two abysses: a well that looks up to heaven.”

Exactly: real life is the difference between what we dream of, plan, want, and long for, and the things that actually happen.

So enough of this old-age wisdom or old-age stupidity, screw it, let’s keep living… there’s still so much awesome music out there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, here’s another long-promised PONYXPRESS from RADIO JAVALI, recorded between Benfeita and Luadas on the edge of the Serra do Acor in the Portuguese mountains. My name is still Michael, and as I mentioned before, I’ve actually turned 71 years old—fantastic, I love it.

Ola, hello, you’re very welcome to listen to a lot of different ways to play guitar.

To start things off today, there were three awesome guitar solo intros that you just want to listen to again and again, so I played them several times in a row. The idea came from Bill Orcutt, who, on his FAKE-ESTATES Bandcamp page, under the title “Last Days,” repeated the famous Guns N’ Roses intro on his computer for 40 minutes. A brilliant idea that picks up on Andy Warhol’s ideas and, through endless repetition, takes pop culture to absurd extremes. And it’s fun to listen to for 40 minutes; you get a trance-like feeling. I once played it as an intro to a DJ set at a party for 20 minutes, and nobody really reacted or found it strange. Yeah, a few people asked, “Ah, is that Guns N’ Roses?”. The Bill Orcutt Last Days saga continues. I discovered Last Days on the same day it was uploaded and offered on Bandcamp, and I bought it immediately. A few days later, Last Days had disappeared from Bandcamp; Axel Rose must have been furious! Not only that, but it was gone from my Bandcamp account too! It certainly alarms me that Bandcamp has access to my fan account, but in this world of digital surveillance, it doesn’t surprise me at all anymore. It’s still listed on Discogs, though: https://www.discogs.com/release/36974280-Bill-Orcutt-Last-Days.

… First guitar was David Gilmore, I got it from somewhere in the internet, second was the above mentioned Last Days, third was by BIG BRAVE’S Matt Ball, and his fantastic intro to the song “the ineptitude for mutual discernment” from BIG BRAVE’S new one “In grief or in hope”, which has been released the 12th of June 2026; https://bigbrave.bandcamp.com/track/the-ineptitude-for-mutual-discernment. First song we heard was by Andy Boay. who is one half of “Tonstartssbandht” with his great song “IN THE LIGHT Pt. 1” from his CD with the same title: https://andyboay.bandcamp.com/track/in-the-light-pt-1

After Andy Boay, we heard “WE’VE GOT ELECTRICITY” by Vertigo Swirl, one of the bands of Brian Andrew Marek and “Manik” Myk Thompson, who run the Rubberstamp label in St. Louis and have been very active in indie, noise, and experimental rock for ages—all DIY, of course. The song shows the endless possibilities that electricity has brough to the guitar: https://brianandrewmarek.bandcamp.com/album/a-new-swirled-record

Next song was by Gunn- Truscinski duo from 2020 “Soundkeeper”- cd and the song “VALLEY SPIRAL”: https:// gunntruscinskiduo.bandcamp.com/track/valley-spiral. Then we listened to the fantastic “HYDROFOIL” performed live in Portsmouth by the heavily underrated Unrest in 1992: https://unrest.bandcamp.com/track/hydrofoil-live-in-portsmouth.

“HYDROFOIL” was followed by “TURNING” by Stephen R. Smith from his 2025 e.p, Turning. Stephen R. Smith is a super-busy musician from L.A. also known as Hala Strana, Ulaan Khol, Ulaan Markhor, Ulaan Passerine and running his worstward label, go here: https://worstward.bandcamp.com/album/turning-e-p.

Then we headed across the Pacific to Australia to listen to Hot Palms’ “MUSS BLUES,” a super-relaxed piece of so-called Australian coastal rock. Hot Palms was the band of Alec Marshall and Emma Russack; later, this project became Blue Divers, but they remained true to their Hot Palms sound—really great for hot days by the sea. https://whydontyoubelieveme.bandcamp.com/album/muss-blues-songs-instrumentals-2012-14.

Back across the Pacific to L.A. to Matt Baldwin and his “Night in the Triangle” CD, featuring the song “PELLEGRINO.” Matt Baldwin has done a lot of solo work; here he can be heard in a duo with Kephera Moon on organ. “Night in the Triangle” was released in 2011; https://psychicarts.bandcamp.com/track/pellegrino

Matt Baldwin is a musician and psychotherapist. He runs a substack, which can be found here: https://baldwinunlimited.substack.com/. He recently uploaded “HOW TO PLAY GUITAR: THE COLLECTED ZINES” to his Bandcamp: https://psychicarts.bandcamp.com/album/how-to-play-guitar-the-collected-zines-audiobook. We listened to Volume 1. I appreciate his very unique and unusual approach to the subject, but I believe that’s precisely what makes for “great music.”

Logically, after an exerpt of Matt Baldwin’s guitar- handbook, we listened to Jon Fahey’s “DANCE OF THE INHABITANTS OF THE INVISIBLE CITY OF BLADENSBURG”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rY4FWFzPYJU

Filho da mae (Rui Cavalho), a guitarist from Lisbon, seems to have been inspired by John Fahey’s song and, together with Ricardo Martins on drums, played the song “ESTRELA DE ARCABADA” from their 2016 CD, *tormenta*. https://filhodamae.bandcamp.com/track/1-estrela-e-acabada

Next up was the fantastic Italian guitarist Andrea Cauduro, originally a classically trained musician, who became more interested in DIY rock and punk to explore the interplay of guitar, amplifier, space, and the resulting feedback: https://deleterec.bandcamp.com/track/eulogy-blue

The next song was from my new homeland of six years, Portugal, by Felipe Felizardo, a true god on the guitar, “PUXAPRA TRAS,” from his 2025 release: Puxapra Trás b/w Puxa Pratrás; https://filipefelizardo.bandcamp.com/track/puxapra-tr-s

We stayed with Felipe Felizardo, in a duet with an equally incredible Portuguese musician, double bassist Margarida Garcia. “LIMBO A” is a live recording from the central bus station in Lisbon from 2016: https://deadvox.bandcamp.com/track/limbo-a

Portugal’s DIY, noise, and experimental music scene is really vibrant, but like almost everything in Portugal, it’s hard to find. The Portuguese aren’t ones for bragging. The next song is from my favorite Portuguese musician, David Maranha, here performing as a duo with Stefano Pilia. The song “ASCESE” is from their album “na boca do avanel,” recorded in 2024. I absolutely recommend everything by David Maranha: https://coherentstates.bandcamp.com/album/na-boca-do-lvanel

Next up is the casual art ensemble from Rio de Janeiro. LeAlmeida is the man behind the well-known Orua, in addition to numerous solo projects. The casual art ensemble is the band where he focuses on improvisation and collaboration. The song is “TEMPO VIVIDO,” recently released on the album *moon forces*: https://halfshellrecords.bandcamp.com/album/moon-forces

My beloved New Zealand scene couldn’t be missing today either, so after “TEMPO VIVIDO” by Anthony Milton’s *The Troubled Times*, we have the song “FLICKER FLICKER BLUE,” recorded in Anthony’s garage in 2023: `https://thetroubledtimes.bandcamp.com/track/flicker-flicker-blue

`

From Gothenburg, Sweden’s experimental music capital, we hear the song “ETERNAL RETURN” from the Eternal Music Society’s 7″ single from 2025, Eternal Return/Impasse. Rock reduced to its essence—that’s exactly how it’s done. Of course, the musical genius Sofie Herner is behind it: https://eternalmusicsociety.bandcamp.com/track/eternal-return

One more, one of my absolute favorites: “JEFF MILLS BLUES” by Flying Saucer Attack from their 1996 John Peel session—back to the future! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHjyQBp4RK8

That was Radio Javalis’ “Pony Express,” recorded in June 2026 in the Portuguese hinterland. Of course, I’d like to broadcast more often, but off-grid life takes up a lot of time for the basics: electricity, water, garden, etc. But honestly, I seriously considered broadcasting at least once a month, and maybe even a short, snappy new track or two in between. Gems from my endless music library. Let’s see, thanks for listening, see you soon. Comments are very welcome! Contact: disappear@anche.no

HOW TO SAVE THE WORLD? BUT WE ARE COSMIC!

Posted on 2025/12/06 - 2025/12/06 by beni55

HITCH-HIKING GALAXIES IN TIMES AND SPACES

Perhaps a sensationalist title, but this topic has really occupied a lot of my friends and me for a long time, and repeatedly. In 1968, I was 13 years old and I still remember vividly when the older students met for the first demonstration: in the high school auditorium, sometimes supported by the teachers or met with sardonic comments, the boys with long hair, the girls with wide skirts, loose blouses, and no bras, flowers and Indian jewelry all around, banners reading “Down with the capitalist pigs, make love not war…etc.” Megaphones, guitars, flutes, pot lids…etc.” Here we go, get rid of that shit. Stones, Beatles, Hendrix, etc. And now? A really big question mark? No, as expected, capitalism has absorbed everything, absolutely everything, and is trying to colonize our brains and souls via smartphones and the like. It’s almost worked. The perverse thing about the whole tragedy is that we all supposedly know what’s wrong, and not only do we know what’s wrong, but we also know many possible solutions. But we stubbornly refuse to save the world, or have we asked the wrong questions? I don’t remember who it was, but a clever philosopher once said: if there is no feasible answer to a question, then the question is wrongly posed!

Anyway, before we go: my reply to this question is very clear: music will save the world

So, maybe this world is not the world we should save, according to Paul Eluard, maybe we should go to ” the other worlds inside this world”?

Honestly, I’m tired of constantly thinking about the desolate state of this world; I’ve been doing that for far too long. Long story short: for my 70th birthday, I received a sweat lodge as a gift through a few coincidences. Boom, that was it. Not that I wasn’t familiar with the ritual practices of the Native Americans, I practice almost every day, but this sweat lodge made me realize that I had forgotten our cosmic origins, our embeddedness in an endless universe. I mean, you should always be aware of that. There’s so much more than evil capitalism, the shitty internet, brutal wars, and so on. We are cosmos! So I came back to two of my favorite books: Surfers of the Zuvaja by Jose Arguelles and Jamie Sams: Dancing the Dream – 7 Sacred Paths of Humanity. Both are deeply rooted in the traditions of Mexican and North American natives and emphasize our “cosmic being” very clearly. In this PONYXPRESS, I have included excerpts from a lecture by Jose Arguelles; I strongly recommend reading the two books mentioned above.

Todays music: not to forget to say, actual music is getting better and better. It seems to be a kind of trend: you can’t say anymore this is rock, this is pop, this is techno, this is whatever, this is Arabic, this is African………no more genres, no more borders………it is just good music! I almost feel sorry for all those who always listen to the same genre. They miss 99% of the party!

So, definitely, todays music:

The intro to the PONYXPRESS is still Art Jackson’s atrocityn from their live CD “Live in Europe 1975” with the song “BIRDS ON FIRE”.

After it is again Francesca Albanese, the UN’s rapporteur on the Israel genocide in Gaza. This genocide is not over, there is a so- called peace, but reality is telling, it is out of the mainstream- media only. Francesca Albanese is my actual favourite politician, she is not a revolutionary, she does nothing else than to insist on the given laws. But this is the reason that she is banned now. Trump, Putin and all the other fascists ruling the world can do what they want! As every war this genocide is a money- maker………

First song is a well known oldie, maybe the younger than 50-ones don’t know, cause they don’t know how to rock’n roll. GIMME SHELTER by the ROLLING STONES, stumbled recently on it at the end of a TV- serie, never realized how good this song is. This was when Mick Taylor was playing the guitar, the STONES had never been that good after Mick has left the band.

The Rolling Stones sing “Gimme Shelter,” but once again, we humans are too stupid to accept the protection that the Earth and the cosmos offer us. Instead, we exploit the Earth, wage wars, and commit all the other follies and cruelties.

Live from 1972: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJ2Ue2ImT98&list=RDyJ2Ue2ImT98&start_radio=1

Second song is of the HOLYDRUG COUPLE of Santiago de Chile which is one of my favourite psychedelic bands, great Pink floydish-guitar, get ready for a spacy trip. Song is “ANCIENT LAND” from their EP with the same name: https://theholydrugcouple.bandcamp.com/album/ancient-land-ep-2, you’ll find it also on their first output “AWE” : https://theholydrugcouple.bandcamp.com/album/awe

We stay in South- America, heading over to Mexico with an awesome underground- music- scene, one of my alltime favs is LOS LICHIS. One of these bands who play pop-covers or freaking out noise, but absolutely unique and perfect, here is their Krautrock- driven “LES VAUTOURS-version ultralichixxx” from their “THE GIANT LICHIS” -CD : https://loslichis.bandcamp.com/album/the-giant-lichis

The next song is by the PIDGINS. The duo from Mexico City plays with traditional chants and rhythmic patterns of old trance rituals, creating their own unique musical language. The song “THIS SIMPLE HACK TO FIX YOUR STOMACH” is from their first CD REFRAINS OF THE DAY VOL 1, released in October 2023: https://pidginsmusic.bandcamp.com/album/refrains-of-the-day-volume-1

The Mexican underground scene is large and diverse; one very unusual band is NIGHT TOILET, who can only be found under this name on Discogs. On Bandcamp, they can be found under a name consisting solely of bars, horizontal and vertical lines: |▄___▀▀|||_____▀▀| They process feedback and all kinds of frequencies generated by certain arrangements of recording and playback devices. The song “LESE.SEIVE” is from their second CD: ETIOPIA.PLAZA.DE.LA.TRANSPARENCIA, from 2023.https://nighttoilet.bandcamp.com/album/etiop-a-plaza-de-la-transparencia

Also from Mexico, but from Monterrey, are LOS LLAMARADA. They’ve been around for 20 years and have just released a new album on C/SITE-RECORDINGS: DEEP DARK VAST. The title says it all. The band has returned to their experimental punk roots, using analog technology, at home, with a four-track machine, no edits, no overdubs—that’s exactly what experimental punk should be. The featured song is “SOMETHING IN MY HEAD”: https://csiterecordings.bandcamp.com/album/deep-dark-vast

Next song is from “THE UNIVERSAL CONGRESS OF” of Los Angeles with them I’ve had the pleasure to organize at least 5 gigs in the independent club I was involved in the 1990ies. We had so much fun with them, one of their gigs was totally sold out, this was insane, we never had 350 people( average was 80 people) at one gig. After we were done and super happy. Todays UNIVERSAL CONGRESS OF is of their first CD JOE BAIZA AND THE UNIVERSAL CONGRESS OF, song is “CERTAIN WAY part 1”, released on the famous SST- label in 1987: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIlWfaZGlCs&list=RDvIlWfaZGlCs&start_radio=1

After the first musical block, we hear JOSE ARGUELLES with excerpts from his answer to the question: “HOW TO SAVE THE WORLD?” This is very interesting to me, as I am quite familiar with Native American customs, rituals, and crafts, and I find the fundamental concept of the ancient Mayan calendar, although foreign, yet somehow very significant. I believe it holds the key to our current crises, cause we have forgotten, especially over the last 30 years, that we are cosmic. If I’m honest, I still spend too much time on fucking screens hoping for the cure- all miracle popping out of the screen. This will never happen as Arguelles is pointing out, the cure-all miracle is within us. Just drop in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4ykgl5F1e4.

Jose Arguelles is also very much into the arts in generally, especially into music, and so into ancient middle- american flutes. Usually he is playing a song before beginning a lecture.

Second music block is some new records I came acroos during the last months and weeks. There are real great outputs, as I mentioned above music is getting better and better.

First 2 songs within the second block is from THORN WYCH with her AESTHESIS- lp released by the HOOD FAIRE – label which is focused on experimental- psychedelic folk in the UK. A very, very interesting label! I came across THORN WYCH by accident, while surfing the experimental folk on bandcamp, I noticed a cover- photo of a woman sitting on a mattress with a stringed instrument in her left hand and a kind of violin bow in her right hand. Okay, so far so good, but this type of violin and bow are made from wild-grown wood, and so they look. I myself really enjoy building wildwood furniture and Moroccan bass guitars and flutes from river reeds, my interest was immediately piqued. In fact, if you go to THORN WYCH’S website, you’ll see all sorts of “crooked and askew” stringed, percussion, and wind instruments. First song of THORN WYCH’s AESTHESIS is “OUT OF THE EATER CAME SOMETHING TO EAT”, second song of THORN WYCH is “THE BLUE ROSE OF FORGETFULLNESS”. Here you have a link to a quite interesting interview of FOXY DIGITALIS with THORN WYCH: https://foxydigitalis.zone/2025/01/15/the-soil-trees-sing-an-interview-with-thorn-wych/

Next 4 songs are of SCORCHED BOGON released by BURGAN TRIANGLE TAPES. When it comes to SCORCHED BOGON I’m getting always almost speechless. The duo of Michael Schlitz and Timothy K.Brown is labelled as lo- fi psychedelic rock. It is but it is much more. This is exactly the kind of music that thrives on what it doesn’t play: the echoes, overtones, interferences, etc. The musicians let their instruments PLAY… maximum intensity with minimum effort. Whenever I listen to SCORCHED BOGON, I don’t listen to any more music for the rest of the day… and my wife always asks me, “What’s wrong with you?” Here are the first four songs from SCORCHED BOGON’s latest release. Each song on this release is almost exactly two minutes long, or rather, it simply cuts off after two minutes. I don’t know why. The release is called DUST OF THE FLAME, and the songs are HS1, HS1 to HS12. Highly recommended.

Next one is a new release of one of my alltime favs SANAM of Beirut. They released SAMETOU SAWTAN last September. And once again I’m almost shocked by the seriousness with which the band approaches their songs. This is simply amazing music, without any sensationalism. Tradition and modernity flow seamlessly together; SANAM tells me so much about the Middle East. Sandy Camoun’s voice and Farah Kaddour’s buzuq will become part of music history. The two songs by SANAM are: “HAMAM” and the title track “SAMETOU SAWTAN,” which means “I heard a voice.” Go here: https://sanambeirut.bandcamp.com/album/sametou-sawtan.

This is a great video about SANAM performing at London’s CAFE OTO in September 2023: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAiu-CfwzXU

Next up is the Iraqi-Belgian band USE KNIFE and their latest release ETAT COUPABLE. As the title ETAT COUPABLE suggests, the music on this release can be heard and understood as a profound critique of the nation-state and racism, and the stereotypes associated with them. The two songs featured today are: “DEMAIN SERA MIEUX” and “IRAQUI DRUM SET”. Go: https://useknife.bandcamp.com/album/tat-coupable

Jose Arguelles is concerned with the flawed understanding of time in Western societies. The fantastic band MASSACRE, led by Fred Frith, addresses this issue musically on their 1981 jazz-punk-noise album KILLING TIME. Today I’m not playing the title track “KILLING TIME,” but rather the incredible “CORRIDOR,” simply because I saw Fred Frith play the guitar intro live. It sounds like Jimi Hendrix on ten times the dose of LSD! Fred Frith was actually playing his electric guitar with a hand broom! Go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mN15ZCV3rjE

The conclusion today was immediately clear to me when I had the idea to make a show about Jose Arguelles’ “How to save the world?”. It could only be Jamie Branch’s “TAKE OVER THE WORLD”. The song is from her fantastic album FLY OR DIE OR DIE FLY OR DIE ((WORLD WAR)), Go here: https://intlanthem.bandcamp.com/track/take-over-the-world

Now I’ve to release this show, liked it very much to do it. Never was aware so much of realizing something is to release it………..to realise………..to release

O.k., this was another episode of RADIO JAVALI’S PONYXPRESS- SHOW, my name is Michael, comments are very welcome on the mixcloud or send an email to disappear@anche.no.

Thanx for listening and eatyoursmartphone!

2nd radio javali’s ponyXpress- show of August 2025 !

Posted on 2025/08/30 - 2025/08/30 by beni55

This awesome mosaic is made by my soul-sister Sole Sun, a masterpeice, it is: Lion men and lioness women and the ashes that the phoenix knows like its own wings. Thanks a lot, Sole Sun!

“Should I go or will I die?”

What`s up? I don’t know! Holy shit, what’s going on?

My mind is splitted, green vs. black. Life vs. fire and everywhere these fucking bees, wasps and mosquitoes around.

“Reality is what is necessary”, Ludwig Hohl (swiss writer and philosopher).

This is another PONYXPRESS- show about wildfires in Portugal( where else????), insects, and above all how our western minds deal with sadness, pain, tragedies and other catastrophes.

This show is not at all depressive, the music is great like always and getting more and more relaxed, maybe too relaxed for lousy, hazy, restless western mind and senses.

The music

First song is ART ENSEMBLE OF CHICAGO with their song “BEES” of their 1974 live at Montreux festival LP “KABALABA”. AEOC is an still existing institution when it is about free jazz, highly radical, highly political, I’ve always their slogan in mind: BACK TO THE FUTURE…………https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A99nQZAH5zk

2nd song is HARRY NILSSON, “JUMP INTO THE FIRE” of his “SCHMILSSON NILSSON” -lp of 1971, HARRY NILSSON was a notoriuos hippie- band, which is still heavily underrated in Europe…………https://www.discogs.com/de/master/60680-Nilsson-Nilsson-Schmilsson….

3rd song is “THIS HEAT” playing “HEALTH AND EFFICIENCY” of the CD with the same title, THIS HEAT is also an institution when it comes to noise and experimental, it is a must- listen. The song is about the atomic power of the sunshine, guess we are suffering of an overdose of it in Central Portugal…………..https://thisheat.bandcamp.com/album/health-and-efficiency

4th song is “TRAN SAM” with the song “PLAY IN THE SUMMER” of their genious vinyl “THE RED LINE”, yeah it is true with this lp TRANS AM has stepped over the red line to become genious. This is one of my favourite albums ever, “PLAY IN THE SUMMER” is an integral part of my DJ- playlists…………..https://transam.bandcamp.com/album/red-line

5th song is of ” PINK PLASTIC GODS” of their “IN THE LAP OF THE GODS” of 1984 with the song “FEAR”, I’m always asking myself why this song is called “FEAR”, its bass-line is so basic and funny and groovy, to me this song is much more a fear-killer.The band is a kind of New Zealand- supergroup with the monsters: Bulcher, Russell, Morley,Rougham and Scott, who have all gone on to have incredible careers after(BATS, DEAD C……)………https://www.discogs.com/de/artist/1263537-Pink-Plastic-Gods

Sorry, in between 5th and 6th song there is MAXINE FUNKE with the song “REARVIEW” of her LP “PIECES OF DRIFTWOOD”, “REARVIEW” is performed by MAXINE and ALASTAIR GALBRAITH. Whenever Maxine Funke comes up, I get excited. “REARVIEW” is an instrumental of her but what a voice she has! No, it’s like a whole orchestra when she sings. And besides her fascinating, invariably classical songs, she’s always open to experimentation… I’m so excited to see what she’ll do next… Highly recommended.Yes, and I would have to dedicate an entire show to her and her accompanist in this song, ALASTAIR GALBRAITH!

DJ having his speech…………and telling about the songs songs and finally a recipe.

6TH song is “K-GROUP” of their 2023 output on knotwilg- records, which is the label of my DJ-friend Johan Loones, the song is called “EXTERIOR”. K- GROUP is another project of PAUL TOOHEY, who is also member of drone- heroes “SURFACE OF THE EARTH”, I tell you again and again the NEW ZEALAND music scene is full on fire since decades……………….https://knotwilg.bandcamp.com/track/exterior-2

7th song is of “SAD EYED BEATNIK” of his 2022 CD “CLAUDIAS ETHEREAL WEAVER”, song is called

“FREE COMPOSITION NUMBER 6”, so easy to listen, sounds like Neil Young, Byrds etc………..https://sadeyedbeatniks.bandcamp.com/track/free-composition-number-6

Songs 8 and 9 are of SHELLEY SAlANT, very busy member of several bands( tyvek, swimsuit, chain and the gang….), she is a longtime member of Michigans underground and DIY- culture……….SHELLS is Shelley as a solo- act with almost nothing else but creating mantra-like improvisations with her electric guitar……..one critic is telling: since I know SHELLS I don’t have to spent any money for a therapist…..second this heavily, SHELLS songs are of SHELLS 2 output, song is called “DRIVEWAY” and the song “FALLING LEAVES” of SHELLS “OUTSIDE”- cd……………https://ginkgorecords.bandcamp.com/track/driveway and here https://editionsshells.bandcamp.com/track/falling-leaves

10th song is of Belgium band “DE REGERING VAN TREFFELIJKE ZACHEN” of their “MELLE-AAN- ZEE” output of 2024, song is called “SISTER PIP”, such a groovy-trippy-hippie jam, I would recommend every output of this Belgian band, masters of relaxed improvisation, big hugs for so much time, space and silence………….https://swarminpeace.bandcamp.com/track/sister-pip

Last song is one of my alltime favourites “QUICKSAND” of German duo “FLOCKS”, driven by traditional vibes, not hesitating to experiment, a step across all cultural borders, a masterpiece in less instrumentation is much more………….https://zehra.bandcamp.com/track/quicksand

P.S.
and I can’t help myself, with so much intensity I have to add ALASTAIR GALBRAITH’s “LOCKDOWN IN LAGASH” from his 2024 LP “060 LAGASH,” a fantastic piece of music that transcends all time and cultures… wow…..https://nicemusiclabel.bandcamp.com/album/060-lagash?search_item_id%3D2670899253%26search_item_type%3Da%26search_match_part%3D%253F%26search_page_id%3D4605276643%26search_page_no%3D0%26search_rank%3D3=

That’s it with the songs!

Before saying bye bye, I’ve to add this link to a post about Portuguese farmers having made a succesfull uprising against an eucalyptus- plantation in 1989, this uprising was beyond any ideology and conspiracy, it was just about the farmers basically needs and I guess that’s why they succeded: https://www.wrm.org.uy/bulletin-articles/portugal-28-years-ago-a-village-fought-against-eucalyptus-the-land-never-burned-again

And another recipe. Well, I really enjoy cooking traditional Italian cuisine while listening to great music, but this is PONYXPRESS and it’s not going to be a cooking show. Still, this is almost my favourite recipe: fennel pesto! Pestos are these delicious, spicy, thick sauces that you mix with pasta and then serve with lots of Parmesan or Pecorino cheese. Pesto Genovese is very well known and extremely tasty, but fennel pesto is the best!
Here in Portugal, wild fennel grows almost everywhere. Take two handfuls of the herb, preferably the young, developing leaf tips, which are still light green, and add 2-3 dried tomatoes, a tablespoon of raisins or dried apricots, a tablespoon of hazelnuts or walnuts, or pine nuts if you want to make it really fancy. Chop everything very finely (please do not use a blender, otherwise it will become mushy), add salt and pepper, and then add enough olive oil to make a pesto. Bon appétit! I recommend serving it with ribbon noodles or thick spaghetti, and of course plenty of Parmesan or Pecorino cheese on top!

Last but not least for to give you a small impression what has happened here:

Thanx for listening, slow down, take your time……any questions: RADIOJAVALI@ANCHE.NO,cheers

radio javali’s ponyXpress- show of August 2025

Another ponyXpress- show of radiojavali, DIY-notcasted from a hidden valley between Central Portugals villages of Benfeita and Luadas. I know ponyXress- shows are happening every now and then, I admit more “then” than now. Anyway this is a new ponyXPpress-show.

As always there is great music for you and some words about the greens around our quinta, the genocide of Palestinian people, digital versus analog and a recipe………

The music

NAKED PREY LIVE: WHAT PRICE FOR FREEDOM LIVE 1990, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqbxOVugAq8

FRANCESCA ALBANESE, UN Special Rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories since 1 May 2022 about genocide in Palestine, https://www.facebook.com/reel/23993633610298557

TWO OR THE DRAGON, Beirut-based electro-acoustic duo of Abed Kobeissy and Ali Hout: Prelude for the Triumphant Man (Part II), https://twoorthedragon.bandcamp.com/track/prelude-for-the-triumphant-man-part-ii

FARAH KADDOUR, DOME SESSIONS, IN-RESONANCE COLLECTIVE,Beirut, https://in-resonancecollective.bandcamp.com/album/the-dome-sessions, I would like to highly recommend Beirut- based ruptured records, https://rupturedthelabel.bandcamp.com/?search_item_id%3D470047365%26search_item_type%3Db%26search_match_part%3D%253F%26search_page_id%3D4528098806%26search_page_no%3D0%26search_rank%3D1=

VOLADURAS DE TECHUMBRES, Desde aquí hasta ahora, released by templo Sagital November 2023 in La Serena in Chile, at the very edge of South America in Chile there’s a quite busy experimental and noisy music- scene at work, also recommend imperecederodiscs of Santiago, https://imperecederodiscos.bandcamp.com/?search_item_id%3D3382593192%26search_item_type%3Db%26search_match_part%3D%253F%26search_page_id%3D4528123949%26search_page_no%3D0%26search_rank%3D1=

MANUAL DA COMBATE: PANORAMA DEL DESARRAIGO I, a song live recorded in Santander at their European tour of Spring 2025, https://imperecederodiscos.bandcamp.com/track/panorama-del-desarraigo-i-2, love this band so much, very unique sound, heavily leftwing and DIY, their next European tour they will play our stage in Teixogueira, wow!

LOS LICHIS: LES VAUTOURS( ultrachixxx version) of their “The Giant Lichis” on bandcamp, another gem of South America, experimental kraut- heads of Mexico City, one of the most genious bands ever, from pop to abstract noise,https://loslichis.bandcamp.com/track/les-vautours-version-ultralichixxx-the-vultures-ultralichixxx-version

DOMINGO CURA, TIEMPO DO PERCUSSION, came across this genious percusssion at the end of the Netflix- series ” 100 years of solitude”, a masterpiece of percussion, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNSrM9RtopU

Showrunner is talking about his home( that’s where my heart is), the (bad!)outer world, digital vs. analog…..and telling you which songs you’ ve listened………..if you need to get in contact: radiojavali@anche.no or come by

CZN, the trio of Porto- based Joao Pais Filipe, Valentina Magaletti & Leon Marks are his companions on this output called SSS, the song is Liz Business, https://thetrilogytapes.bandcamp.com/track/liz-business.

Joao Pais Filipe is one of my favourite percussionists, a very busy guy, he is a blacksmith, making his cymbals and other instruments by himself. He is also told to search junkyards and flee- markets for everything you could use as a drum, he is exploring the sound of things. His music is heavily based in a deep knowledge of shamanic rituals from allover the world. Heavy recommendation!

LUCIFECIT, TIMPANI, of their debut “Devocao”, dazzling horns on punkish- gnawaish basslines, FACADA- records, Portugal, https://facadarecords.bandcamp.com/track/timpani

TIAGO SOUSA, SPHERES DANCE, Organic Music Tapes Vol. 4, sucata tapes, https://sucatatapes.bandcamp.com/track/spheres-dance, this is amazing. I remember coming across Tiago Sousa when listening to one of Jonathan Herveghs “Blurred and Obscurred” -shows on WFMU( best music shows ever, https://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/154691). I’ve had to live 5 years in Portugal without knowing Tiago Sousa, that’s a shame! He is a genious and has restored my enthusiasm for the piano and organ. He is also the founder of the Merzbau- Label

Showrunner is talking again: what kind of music he likes and why and then he is complaining about actual techno, electronic shit- music and the way out. Showrunner says good bye or cheers and promises a next show soon! Last but not least he recommends his recent discovery of a great icecream: olive oil- icecream which is quite popular in Puglia, Sardegna and in the South of Portugal but quite unknown inother countries. This icecream is a gem, a festival for your lousy senses. It tastes like the smell in an olive grove.

It tastes resinous, like caramel, lots of herbs, and sunshine. This is the recipe, like almost every website it is nerving to go through, but scroll down and at the bottom of the site you’ll find a proper recipe: https://www.loveandoliveoil.com/2022/06/olive-oil-ice-cream.html

CAVE STORY, “PUNK ACADEMICS”, of their “Punk Academics” on bandcamp, great Portuguese indie-rock of Caldas da Rainha, north of Lisbon, https://cavestory.bandcamp.com/track/punk-academics

……….and last song of this show is another one of CAVE STORY, You’re Gonna Carry That Weight…………it is a great song for to finish, https://cavestory.bandcamp.com/track/youre-gonna-carry-that-weight

Thanx for listening, see you more then than now…………support the artists by buying their music!
